The Market Story

Founded in 2009, the Chicago French Market came about with the movement in America to support local food systems and bring back the European-inspired marketplace — providing you with year-round, permanent access to their local bounty.

The Bensidoun Family is proud to bring together a unique collection of 30 + local vendors that were hand selected for their individual passions and high-quality products. You will find best-of-the-best from Chicago’s melting pot neighborhoods. The Chicago French Market is largely comprised of entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses and accomplished purveyors presenting foods from around the world.

As the Original Chicago Food Hall, Chicago French Market is fast becoming a destination for tourists and locals alike. The in-house seating area is reminiscent of a Parisian street cafe. Photo-ops in the seating area are frequent with an original art mural of Paris at night as a backdrop. We encourage you to come in and enjoy this truly unique space. The Chicago French Market also offers fresh ingredients for cooking at home, delicious grab-and-go options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, light snacks, picnics, easy party planning for home and office settings, plus meaningful gift ideas, all in one convenient location.

Location and Parking

No other setting in the city could be more perfect for The Chicago French Market then the adaptive reuse and transit oriented development, MetraMarket, located one level below the Ogilvie Transportation Center Train shed. Our location in the MetraMarket Development, is easily accessed by tourists, commuters and residents alike due to it’s proximity to Metra, CTA and Amtrak rail and bus lines.

You can find Chicago French Market in the West Loop at 131 N. Clinton as well as 118 N. Canal through Ogilvie Transportation Center’s Suburban Concourse (both entrances are located between Randolph and Washington Streets). It’s just steps from the city’s central business district and Randolph Street Restaurant Row and just blocks from the River North, River West and Fulton River District neighborhoods, Greek Town and the Theatre District.

Parking

Covered, ground-level parking is available in the MetraMarket parking lot located just north of Randolph with entrances from both Canal and Clinton. If you park for one hour or less, parking is free when your purchases total $20 or more at the market (receipts required for proof of purchase). If you park for more than one hour, the regular DAILY rates will apply. 15 minute parking zone for customers also located in front of the Market on Clinton.

The Bensidoun Family

The Bensidoun family, the largest market operator in and around Paris since 1953, operates and manages Chicago French Market. The family operates nearly 100 open-air and indoor markets throughout the U.S. and Europe, including 11 Chicagoland outdoor, summer weekend markets.

As with all local markets, our goal is to bring a sense of community found in the markets of Europe, and provide a place to gather, socialize and purchase quality goods..
